Mo Egger: My Favorite Opening Day Memory

Opening Day is a lot of things...hope and renewal, father and sons, a sales guy and his clients. It represents new beginnings and gives us an opportunity to remember all that's good.

It brings back memories...of Junior's first at-bat as a Red...of the President tossing out the first pitch...of Joe Randa going deep in '05 to beat the Mets... of Dmitri Young throwing out runners at the plate in '99 and of Todd Walker coming up big on the last Opening Day at Cinergy.

Perhaps as important as anything, Opening Day is ours. It's a Cincinnati holiday. In New York, Philly, Denver, Atlanta or anywhere else it's simply the beginning of the baseball season. For us, it's more than that.

It's a lot things to a lot of people. I've been to every opening day since 1997. To me, it's simple, on a Monday, at 2:00 in the afternoon on what's normally a workday, I'm sitting at the ballpark, hopefully in the sunshine, sipping on a beer (or four) and watching a ballgame. On Opening Day, Life is Perfect.
